Lad Decker

Lad Decker is an expressionist artist and painter who pursues complexity to inspire critical thinking about the human condition. Her work examines human conflict, the pursuit of power, and war. Born in 1971, she grew up watching the Vietnam War on television, inspired by journalists who attempted to tell the truth about Watergate, The Pentagon Papers and why America was in Vietnam. Lad holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute with a background in Fiber and surface design.

"My work is inspired by journalism, history, and international relations. I’m interested in the complexity of our shared human experience. A healthy democracy requires an informed and educated public. The challenges we’re facing as a global society are only becoming more complex. Artists can help us look in the mirror, look around us, and see beyond fear. Artists can help inspire curiosity, participation, and collaboration."
